Last year Sram released their uber expensive and very trick 2×10 XX system. At Sea Otter, Sram introduced the 2011 X0 and X9 variants, trickling down the XX technology throughout the family line (X7 was released earlier this year). Sram emphasized that they are not gruppo’s, but families, due to the separate drivetrain (Sram), brake (Avid) and crank (Truvativ) and especially suspension (Rock Shox) companies. All four levels of the component families provide 2×10 transmissions, TaperBore brake systems and integrated suspension, and the X0 and X9 have color options! The X9 is available in three colors (red, grey and white), while X0 comes in four ( black, red, gold and blue).
X0 2x10 Drivetrain
The X0 and X9 include their own specific 10-speed rear derailleur (long, medium, short), 10-speed trigger shifters, Truvativ 10-speed cranks, Avid brakes and SRAM XG-1099 cassette. The X7 version is dedicated 2×10, while all other levels come in either 2×10 or 3×10 gearing. Both new groups use currently available 10-speed chains from SRAM.
Avid X0 Brakes and Sram X0 shifters
No pricing information has been released, but availability should be late in the year.
